ICON plc are looking to appoint a Senior Outsourcing Manager. The individual will support the outsourcing and contracting needs of clinical development programs. This Senior Outsourcing Manager will be a member of the clinical project team and will be responsible for the generation, negotiation and execution of clinical trial contracts. The individual will ensure that the contract terms and budget meet the needs of both the clinical trial and Vertex legal requirements. This person will also be responsible for generating change orders to the statements of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality agreements are executed as required;
  • Responsible for the contract negotiation and execution for vendors supporting a clinical trial;
  • Act as the primary contact with vendors for negotiation of the scope of work, study assumptions and budgets;
  • Work closely with legal, clinical operations and other relevant functional groups for review and escalation of contract and budget issues;
  • Support cross-functional relationships with clinical operations, legal and finance;
  • Maintain contracts database;
  • Participate in study team and report status of study-specific contracts;
  • Perform follow-up activities for accounts payable issues as requested by clinical teams or other functional groups;
  • Follow up or escalate vendor requests for payment information; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is required;
  • Minimum of 5 plus years of experience in outsourcing at a CRO or sponsor;
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel.

Communicative Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills - able engage Sr. Director to VP level staff;
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to negotiate and obtain commitment and buy-in from customers, suppliers and team members;
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong partnership/relationships with all functions involved in the trial;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities within matrix environment;
  • Works and meets deadlines while being detailed oriented.
