How will you make an impact?

The Site Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of a team of services professionals who enable our customers to complete their scientific research. The Site Supervisor leads all aspects of contracted laboratory services, including chemical inventory, vendor-managed inventory, dry ice delivery, and personal protective equipment replenishment. The Site Supervisor develops and builds customer relationships to improve operations and explore new business opportunities.    

What will you do?

The position handles the daily supervision of customer site-based personnel, enabling the team to consistently deliver high levels of customer service.

  • Participate in the candidate selection process, training, and staff performance evaluations.

  • Interacts with management, sales team, and the customers on matters concerning functional areas within the department, regularly
  • Sets up and presents at customer business review meetings; delivers Managed Services capabilities presentations.
  • Actively seeks expansion of services within assigned areas.
  • Supports Practical Process Improvement and focuses on improving processes to provide stellar customer service.
  • Leads improvement teams and mentors site personnel to lead team improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate employees’ training needs, identify practical solutions, and arrange for needed training and development.
  • Writes and administers standard operating procedures to support the department's and customer's goals and objectives.
  • Conducts site audits and annual physical inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

How will you get here?

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills. Military Service/Training in lieu of a degree may also be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Leadership and supervisory abilities and interpersonal skills are required to lead, coach, and enhance team culture; Basic understanding of employment/labor law regulations.

Experience in customer-facing roles is required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific's values, including confidentiality.

Must be able to handle conflict well and give positive and constructive feedback.

Must possess analytical and critical thinking abilities to be able to evaluate and interpret information and procedures to make timely decisions and assist staff in task prioritization.

Ability to meet deadlines while functioning in a fast-paced, changing work environment.

Demonstrates computer proficiency and possesses intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Works primarily at customer locations, in office/laboratory environments including cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations, and laboratory environments. May be required to work independently at customer location.

Ability to stand/walk for long periods.

Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (penicillin, tetracycline, etc.

Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 pounds occasionally.

Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, cut-resistant gloves, and safety glasses. Steel-toe shoes are provided and may be required during the entire work shift.

May be required to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks.
