The Technical Applications Scientist is responsible for providing remote pre and post sales technical support of products to customers and field personnel, as well as relaying customer feedback to the organization. The Technical Applications Scientist role is office-based and requires on site presence.

Location: Hybrid work in Carlsbad, CA, USA, Grand Island, NY, USA. Eugene OR, Rockford, IL, Budapest, Hungary, or Madrid, Spain. Residency near either locations required. No relocation will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for molecular biology product lines and services by answering customer technical inquiries. Inquiries may be received via telephone or email.
  • Provide customer support on technical issues by applying all available resources, and advance issues or problems when warranted.
  • Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on new applications and technologies to remain at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge.
  • Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Summarize trends and technology as technical tips, FAQ’s and troubleshooting guides.
  • Recommend changes to knowledge databases, website, and other company-managed databases of technical information.
  • Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
  • Participate in additional special team or individual projects.
  • May perform other job-related duties as opportunities arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a B.S., B.A. or M.S. in molecular biology or similar field.
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques required. Experience in cloning, protein expression and/or gene expression profiling (RNAi, real-time PCR, arrays, etc.) is most applicable.
  • Proven technical writing capabilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Digital literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A PhD. or a PhD. with post-doctoral experience.
  • Prior experience in customer service.
  • Hands on experience with CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing and/or protein expression.
  • Experience in an applied science area (i.e. food and animal health, clinical research, diagnostics, etc)

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $60,000.00–$85,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
