Reporting to the Vice President, Business Innovation Strategy and Business Development, the Director of Strategy & Business Development – Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) will look holistically across the business to develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy, including innovation and inorganic initiatives, to drive greater customer value, product differentiation, and enable growth.

How will you have an impact?

The Director will develop frameworks and tackle problems across a variety of areas, each of which will have a significant impact on the long-term success of LSG.

- Lead market intelligence and analysis, drawing insights and implications for the businesses.

- Identify, define, and articulate industry, market, and emerging trends and how they may affect LSG businesses.

- Apply project management, analytical and decision support skills to lead ‘special projects’ that advance key strategic priorities for specific opportunities.

- Collaborate with divisional market intelligence teams to build a single source of truth for market sizes and growth rates to advise strategic priorities.

- Drive translation of strategy to portfolio planning and provide direction for investment priorities.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with team members across LSG Divisions (Business GMs, Product Management, Research & Development, Finance, Legal and others as needed) in technical and business assessment of potential candidates in support of business opportunities.

- Drive projects through cross-functional teams. Lead day-to-day management of deals with potential partners.

- Develop a business case and present it to senior management.

- Drive all communications and negotiations on business deals.

- Provide clear, concise project updates to key collaborators.

How you will get there:

- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in life sciences or related field. MBA or related advanced degree desired

- 7+ years of meaningful professional experience, including broad experience in strategy and market/financial analysis within a Corporate or Consulting setting; 3+ years’ experience at a top-tier management consulting firm preferred.

- Experience working on large strategic initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research/analysis, building business and implementation plans and driving execution.

- Experience in the Life Sciences Industry, leading Business Development / Corporate Development deals.

- Apply a broad business perspective: have in-depth knowledge of the market, industry and organization, and their impact on work processes and results.

- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), able to represent ideas and recommendations at all levels in the organization, across functional and geographic boundaries.

- Strong analytical and financial skills (market sizing modeling or financial modeling) to work on sophisticated business issues with minimal direction.

- Effective at forming relationships, collaborating, and influencing others; experience working with senior executives across various geographies and functions.

- Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $176,000.00–$230,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
