Reporting to the Director of Tax based in the UK, this role is central to handling the intricacies of employment tax within our organization. As an Employment Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and managing relationships with external advisors across the EMEA region of the group. Your expertise will be key in consulting various customers within the business in multiple employment tax areas. These include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Governance/SAO/CCO Compliance: Ensure adherence to tax governance requirements in EMEA, including Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) and Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) in the UK as they relate to employment tax.

Equity Scheme Support: Provide guidance and support for equity compensation schemes, including stock options, grants, and other employee equity participation. Ensure tax compliance in EMEA.

Benefits Support: Advise on the employee benefits programs from a tax perspective across EMEA. This includes healthcare, flexible benefits, cars etc..

IR35 and Employment Status: Monitor and advise on employment status determinations, particularly in the context of IR35 regulations in the UK. Make worker classifications and ensure tax compliance.

PAYE Settlement Agreements: Handle PAYE settlement agreements, facilitating the settlement of tax and National Insurance contributions for specific expenses and benefits provided to employees.

Short Term Business Visitor Reporting: Oversee tax reporting for short-term business visitors coming to the UK for work-related purposes. Ensure compliance with relevant tax rules.

Global Mobility Taxation: Offer tax advice and support to payroll/HR with regards to the advice received from our Global Mobility third party advisors.

Interpreting Complex Tax Laws: Stay current with intricate tax laws and regulations, ensuring our tax strategies are both compliant and optimised.

Skills and Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • CTA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification.
  • A strong background in tax, with a focus on employment tax.
  • Expertise in UK and EMEA tax regulations and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of equity compensation schemes and employee benefits.
  • Proficiency in navigating IR35 regulations and employment status determinations.
  • Experience in managing PAYE Settlement Agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex tax laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with cross-functional skills.
  • A deep understanding of the tax implications of international assignments and global tax compliance.
  • Dedication to staying updated on evolving tax laws and introducing innovative solutions to address tax challenges and opportunities.
