Job Summary

BASIC SUMMARY:   Manager of Internal Controls – Responsible for leading a team of individuals to ensure effective design and operation of SOX 404 internal controls over financial reporting. Facilitate and apply CRL’s risk-based compliance strategy and methodology, ensuring prevention or detection of both errors and fraud in all financial processes. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

  • Lead efforts to analyze process, design and annual walkthrough of all N. American controls, make recommendations for modification and improvement, and evaluate for optimal operational and financial performance of CRL. 
  • Manage CRL’s Top Risks SOX program, utilizing risk assessment methodology to identify top threats to CRL’s SOX compliance. Ensure and communicate proper and timely mitigation is executed by GIC and the business.
  • Design efficient control solutions to drive operational efficiencies, compliance with company policies, and reduce risk of material financial misstatement.
  • Participate in system, project implementations, and identify impacts to CRL SOX framework. Modify design of internal controls to ensure mitigation of risk.
  • Prepare scoping documentation, global SOX compliance calendar, training and facilitate annual audit process.
  • Document processes utilizing Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Develop practical approaches and solutions that address internal control compliance challenges and issues.
  • Monitor, lead, and report on internal control process stability and facilitate preparation and execution of remediation plans. 
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned. 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  Bachelors degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in accounting or related discipline. Masters degree in Business Administration or Finance preferred. 
  • Experience:  Five to ten years of directly related experience in both public and private accounting with a combination of at least three years of internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience.  
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure:  CPA highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Governance, Risk, and Control (GRC) frameworks, approaches, tools, methodologies (i.e., COSO,etc.)
  • Experience in Access Management; Segregation of Duties (SOD), Fraud Risk Analysis and Mitigation
  • Self-starter; adaptable to change; bias for execution
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, deliverables, and stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must regularly operate a computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. 
  • Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media, sources and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange accurate information in these situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is remote. 

COMMENTS:

  • Occasional domestic or international travel.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $120,000/yr. - $135,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
