Director, Process Management

As Director, Process Management you will lead a Process Management team, develop and continuously improve key components of process management and the Operational Excellence & Delivery (OED) Office Operational Model related to Process Management standards.  You will advise, instruct, manage and facilitate proper functioning of components constituting the Process Management System as part of the Quality Management System. The Director will provide direction to Process Management staff; leads projects on development, documentation and improvement of process management standards and related items, including establishing the infrastructure needed to support the business in understanding, complying with and managing their processes; works with OED Office, Process Owners, Process Optimization Leads, Business Process Management, Operational teams and others to develop and manage the next generation of Process Management using appropriate technology.

Global Organizational Support
  • Determine, implement, maintain and improve services required to support Parexel, Operations and Administration of the Process Management System.
  • Leads projects on development, documentation and improvement of process management, including establishing the infrastructure needed to support the business in understanding, complying with and managing their processes.

  • Maintenance and improvement of Process Management components.

  • Performing tasks required to deliver projects including management of stakeholder expectations, scope of work, communication, team management, planning, initiation, execution and closeout.

  • Liaise with internal customers to determine requirements, expectations and feedback on deliverables.

  • Presents an overview of the ProcessManagement system to clients, auditors and government regulatory inspectors.

  • Workswith OED Office, Process Owners, Process Optimization Leads, Business Process Management, Operational teams and others to develop and manage the next generation of Process Management using appropriate technology.  

  • Support in the preparation for and follow up of internal/external audits and inspections as required.

  • Support Operations staff in the use of Process Management tools and provide metrics as appropriate.  

  • Support review processes for Controlled Documents to ensure these are updated on time.

  • Initiates and coordinates regular communication on process management in cooperation with OED Office and Corporate Communications.

  • Provide OED Office related support to Operations.

  • Work with the relevant training functions including Parexel Academy / Learning & Development and Operations.

Process Management Support
  • Provides direction to Process Management staff.
  • Manage implementation and upgrading of Process management tools and documents.

  • Lead improvement projects in own group to facilitate continuous growth and high-quality support to the rest of the organization.

  • Process Owner of Process Management Controlled Documentsas needed.

  • Developing internal communications supporting process-based culture.

  • Initiating escalation of significant quality events to Management as required.

  • Support/Guide team members on Process Management.

  • Empower employees to be the best that they can be.

Talent Management and Development

  • Manages Process Management staff with direct line management as required.

  • Design and oversee ongoing training and development for Process Management staff. 

  • Conduct formal performance management appraisals for direct reports and establish performance goals.

  • Process Management capacity planning and resource management. Ensure that resources are adequate. 

  • Provide coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback to direct reports, and where appropriate, to indirect reports.

  • Undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management and development of the team to ensure their performance meets and or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals/objectives.

  • Ensure that Training Curriculum, CVs and Job Descriptions are maintained for Process Management direct and indirect reports.

OED Office support

  • Work with Head of Sustainability & Process Management to execute the Sustainability & Process Management and OED Office strategy.

  • Work with Head of Sustainability & Process Management to set and execute the vision, mission and strategy for Sustainability & Process Management.

  • Execute the strategic and tactical goals of Sustainability & Process Management and review these goals on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are being met.

  • Support management of the Sustainability & Process Management budget.

  • Write Corporate Quality Documents related to internal and external communication, process documentation and Parexel Controlled Documents, including the Corporate Quality Manual.

  • Owns documents governing Process Management.

  • Participate in OED Office Groups as needed

  • Represent Process Management in client audits and regulatory inspections.

  • Make presentations and maintain visibility at seminars and conferences as requested.

  • Domestic and international travel as required.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with all levels of a multinational and multicultural organization as a change agent.

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Adobe.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong technological aptitude.

  • Strong analytical skills and basic statistics, logic design concepts. 

  • Familiarity with structured process analysis and improvement methodologies, business process modeling and an understanding of business workflows. Lean Six Sigma skills such as DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma, Lean, Process Management and statistics, SOX, and process simulations are highly desirable.

  • Understanding of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, and current industry trends.

  • Willing and able to travel as required – local or international. 

  • Time management, planning, organization, problem-solving, innovation, self-awareness, personal leadership, decision-making, judgment, collaboration and presentation skills are beneficial and, from time-to-time, necessary.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects with creativity and original thought that produces successful results.

  • Able to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm, solve problems independently, work well under pressure and prioritize workload with attention to detail.
  • Expertise in managing projects focused on helping clients to enhance responsiveness, increase competitiveness and improve performance.

  • Positive attitude and ability to adjust to changing priorities, unforeseen events and ambiguity.

  • Ability to make appropriate decisions in ambiguous situations.

  • Culturally aware and ability to think and work globally.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Substantial experience in the Clinical Research field (pharmaceutical industry or CRO) or other relevant experience.

  • Leadership and/ or management experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred

  • Educated to degree level (technology, biological science, pharmacy or other health related discipline preferred) or equivalent qualification or clinical research experience

  • Master’s degree in a science, technology or industry related discipline, preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma
