Deelname Criteria

Inclusiecriteria:

Patiënt is in staat om schriftelijke geïnformeerde toestemming te geven voor deelname aan het onderzoek en is bereid deze te begrijpen
Gediagnosticeerd atriumfibrilleren (AF) of atriumflutter (gedocumenteerd op een elektrocardiogram (ECG) of monitoropname)
Leeftijd 65-74 en een CHA2DS2VASc ≥5 OF leeftijd ≥75 en een CHA2DS2VASc ≥4
Naar oordeel van de verantwoordelijke arts of naar eigen oordeel ongeschikt voor orale antistolling
Ten minste 1 risicofactor voor bloedingen, zoals ernstige nierinsufficiëntie, gepland dagelijks gebruik van plaatjesaggregatieremmende medicatie voor de duur van het onderzoek, voorgeschiedenis van bloedingen uit een kritiek gebied of andere aandoeningen die verband houden met een verhoogd risico op bloedingen, zoals chronische niet-steroïde anti-inflammatoire geneesmiddelen (NSAID-)gebruik, kwetsbaarheid of meervoudig vallen

Uitsluitingscriteria:

AF als gevolg van een aanhoudende acute omkeerbare oorzaak (bijvoorbeeld hartchirurgie, longembolie (PE), onbehandelde hyperthyreoïdie, alcoholgebruik)
Patiënten die binnen 60 dagen voorafgaand aan randomisatie warfarine, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban of edoxaban kregen
Patiënten met een intracraniale of intraoculaire bloeding binnen de 3 maanden voorafgaand aan de screening of een voorgeschiedenis van spontane intracerebrale bloeding op enig moment zonder antitrombotische behandeling
Elke beroerte binnen 14 dagen voor randomisatie of voorbijgaande ischemische aanval (TIA) binnen 3 dagen voor randomisatie
Mechanische hartklep of klepaandoening die naar verwachting mechanische klepvervanging (chirurgisch of invasief) in de loop van het onderzoek zal vereisen

Andere in het protocol gedefinieerde opname-/uitsluitingscriteria kunnen van toepassing zijn
