Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong work behaviors to join our team as a Scientist III within our Cell Biology team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects with the potential to make a significant impact in the scientific community.

What will you do

Work as part of the Cell Biology R&D team to develop new products in the fast-moving gene therapy field.

Act as a leader in the gene therapy space, working to identify novel ways to improve viral vector production in cell lines.

Develop and optimize robust characterization methods to assess viral vector product quality.

Lead team in systematic problem analysis and resolution for project advancement and guide team in matrix environment.

Continuously review and evaluate new technologies and methods to improve process efficiency.

Design and conduct experiments, accurately analyzing data, and interpreting results.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of research projects.

Share research findings with colleagues within the organization and present at scientific conferences.

Work in a matrix environment to conceive, design, and implement strategies to address current challenges associated with virus production.

Maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards to support patent application and defense as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.).

Education / Experience

A Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Cell Biology, Virology, or a related scientific field, with 2+ years of experience for Ph.D. holders or 5+ years of experience for M.S. holders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of viral vector (AAV, LV, Adenovirus, etc.) biology.

Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, DNA transfection, and viral transduction

Hands-on experience with molecular and cell biology techniques including PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, d/ddPCR, ELISA, transfection, and flow cytometry.

Strong knowledge of viral vector production systems.

Knowledge of insect-based production systems a plus.

Familiarity with recombinant protein expression systems a plus.

Demonstrated track record of completing tasks within established timelines.

Excellent time management and multi-tasking capabilities.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrate ability to generate new ideas, achieve results and solve problems.
