Detaillierte Beschreibung
Das allgemeine Ziel dieser Studie ist es, stressbedingte Schlafstörungen bei pflegenden Angehörigen von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz zu charakterisieren und die Wirksamkeit einer Intervention zu testen, die darauf abzielt, Stress und Schlafstörungen zu reduzieren. Wir werden die Wirksamkeit einer Stress Management Plus Health Sleep Practices (SM+HSP)-Intervention mit einer Nur-Aufmerksamkeit-Kontrollbedingung bei pflegenden Ehepartnern von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz vergleichen.
Spezifische Ziele für diese Studie sind:
Ziel 1: Stressbedingte Schlafstörungen bei pflegenden Angehörigen von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz zu charakterisieren.
Ziel 2: Testen der kurzfristigen Wirksamkeit einer Stressbewältigung plus gesunder Schlafpraktiken (SM+HSP)-Intervention im Vergleich zu einer Nur-Aufmerksamkeit-Kontrolle zur Verbesserung des Schlafes und der Gesundheitsergebnisse bei Pflegekräften von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz.
Ziel 3: Testen der Dauerhaftigkeit der SM+HSP-Intervention bei pflegenden Angehörigen von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz.
Ziel 4: Charakterisieren:
- die Auswirkungen stressbedingter Schlafstörungen auf die Gesundheit älterer Erwachsener und
- die Auswirkungen von Schlafinterventionen auf Gesundheit und Funktionsfähigkeit.

Beschreibung
Einschlusskriterien:
- Alter 60 oder älter
- Ehepartner pflegende Angehörige von Patienten mit fortschreitender Demenz
- Patienten haben eine Diagnose einer möglichen oder wahrscheinlichen Alzheimer-Krankheit oder einer anderen fortschreitenden Demenz
- Bestätigen Sie, dass es eine körperliche und emotionale Belastung ist, sich um den Ehepartner zu kümmern
- Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-Score von 5 oder höher oder eine polysomnographisch bestimmte Schlafeffizienz von 90 % oder schlechter.
Ausschlusskriterien:
- Psychotische Störung oder Störung durch Drogenmissbrauch
- Apnoe-Hypopnoe-Index größer als 30
- Ergebnis von weniger als 24 beim Mini-Mental State Exam
