We are looking for an ambitious Product Manager, Vibrational Spectroscopy to join our team and take the next step in their career. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a global market leading Vibrational Spectroscopy instrumentation and services team to help shape new product visions and the future direction of the FTIR research portfolio.

As a Product Manager within the Vibrational Spectroscopy team, you will support the growth of the product lines and work with experienced and passionate scientist and engineers to help deliver solutions to the global scientific community.  This is a cross-functional role requiring good interpersonal skills, an attention to detail and a passion to learn. As valued member of the team, you will help drive product lifecycle activities, gather competitive analysis and help ensure market fit for our products.

This is primarily an office-based role situated at our Madison, WI site with occasional domestic and international travel required. Responsibilities:

  • Manage worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin and pricing for the FTIR Microscope spectroscopy product portfolio.
  • Own the product roadmap and product lifecycle.
  • Manage collaborations with commercial partners and key customers to drive growth in Pharmaceutical, Chemical and clean energy and other key segments.
  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements, competitive landscape, and find opportunities for growing customer and business value through product differentiation and development.
  • Represent the customer perspective in the new product development process from Identification of market need through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer segments, product requirements and value proposition, formulating and communicating global launch plans and strategy, public presentations, competitive analysis, forecasting and positioning.
  • Provide product and application specific technical and marketing support to field sales organizations and channel partners.
  • The selected candidate shall be a strong leader within cross-functional teams developing the right product to fulfill customer needs, and will focus on accelerating customer success by interacting w/ functional partners including Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Market Development, Finance, Customer Services, Quality and Regulatory associates.

Education:

  • Masters Degree (M.S./M. A.) in a Chemistry, Material Science or engineering related field from a four-year college or university required
  • M.B.A is a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years experience in capital equipment product management, or Business Development roles
  • 5+ years experience in spectroscopic applications and implementation.
  • Expertise in Microscopy and Microscopy sample preparation
  • Chemometric experience is a plus

  • Customer-centric, aware of markets, trends and competitors
  • Successful track record in launching/positioning products and services
  • Expertise in converting market intelligence into valued added features and products.
  • Comfortable working with highly technical scientists and engineers as well as customers
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to step back and analyze the overall business impact and act with accountability.
