Job Summary

Perform basic surgical procedures, related animal care and administrative duties in fulfillment of customer orders.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform basic surgical procedures as assigned.
  • Perform specimen collection associated with surgical procedure.
  • Provide pre- and post- operative animal care.
  • Perform all duties following prescribed safety procedures.
  • Maintain workstation and equipment in clean, healthful, and safe environment.
  • Complete paperwork as required.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
  • One to two years related experience in small animal surgery.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently be able to remain in a stationary position while performing laboratory tasks:
    • regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;
      • reach with hands and arms; and use a microscope.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
  • Works in a busy research environment:
    • often uses sharp objects,
    • works around mechanical parts,
    • works with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards,
    • exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
  • Works with biological samples with risk of exposure to, zoonotic disease, and biohazards.  

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and location.
