Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end close activities including updating and maintaining the General Ledger
  • Coordinate and maintain monthly accruals and standard journal entries
  • Engage in the review and enhancement of account reconciliations and analysis of account variances on a month-end basis utilizing Blackline Software
  • Responsible for SOX key control operating effectiveness, company policy compliance and documenting policies and procedures
  • Candidate will demonstrate financial acumen in financial reporting, internal control, analysis, and technical accounting knowledge
  • Proactively lead projects related to continuous process improvement and uses systems to increase controls and efficiencies
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives to ensure long term operational excellence
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and metrics to drive performance
  • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills, are required.
  • Proven history of participating on successful cross functional teams as well as the ability to build organizational relationships with peers and operating partners
  • The ideal candidate will exhibit leadership, initiative, and the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4-I values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Fina
  • Advanced Qualification Preferred (CPA, MBA)

Experience:

  • 5 + Years General-Ledger Experience
  • Strong Analytical capabilities
  • Requires critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Hyperion, SAP and Blackline Systems experience is a plus
  • Public accounting and experience in a large, global organization is a plus
