Primer Maintenance Engineer I

2 Shift pattern :

6am - 2.15pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 1pm finish

2pm - 10pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 1pm to 9pm

Position Summary

The positions objective is to deliver site targets by ensuring the facility structure, utilities, manufacturing systems and equipment are maintained to a premier standard. The operational support group willassist in projects to deliver quality, productivity, safety and cost saving improvements. The primary function of the role is to ensure that the facility and manufacturing process continues to deliver world class products as efficiently as possible through effective preventative maintenance, emergency breakdown response and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of the engineerI is to ensure that the all the custom primer equipment is maintained.

  • Participate as a team member in multi-functional corporate site projects, taking ownership and responsibility in delivering actions and tasks specific to the Primer operation.

  • Use trouble shooting & problem-solvingtechniques to ensure any systems and manufacturing equipment issues are investigated & repaired in a timely manner.

  • Complete & monitoressential preventative maintenance tasks 

  • Complete & monitoressential corrective work order tasks 

  • Update, review and analyse department critical metrics (daily/weekly/monthly) to ensure operational support teams performance is being achieved and maintained along with identifying improvement opportunities using data driven decisions

  • Work in partnership with other departments to develop and improve the current facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment to help deliver change and improve key performance metrics & goals

  • Will also be trained on the manufacturing process.This could also mean supporting manufacturing to synthesize products..

Key Skills required:

  • Good Technical knowledge of process and equipment &maintenance within a manufacturing process 

  • Working knowledge of control systems 

  • Will also be trained on the manufacturing process. May need to support in some occasions to manufacture product.

  • Practical experience of manufacturing equipment maintenance, solving issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Good communication skills – works across functions 

  • Results driven  

  • Teammate and self-starter

  • Ability to learn and develop current skills and behaviors to progress within the function and lead by example.

  • Ability to build links with current and new vendors to develop processes and system to drive continuous improvement within manufacturing processes.

  • Knowledge of process excellence techniques; lean manufacturing, Six sigma and SPC etc.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • Minimum HNC or City in guilds in an engineering field 

  • Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment would be desirable but not essential

  • Previous experience of working within team and delivering projects deliverables essential

  • Experience of working and maintainingfacility & process equipment crucial

  • Role could require occasional travel and out of hours working

  • Role will require working in controlled environments with the requirements to wear PPE 

  • Support overtime & work early/backshift
