We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Scientist to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen. As a Technical Lead for new product developments, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and leading the development of new products within an existing platform.Discover Impactful Work:To strengthen our agile Life Science MS team, we are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager (m/f/d) with professional experience and the ability to lead confidently in a fast-paced R&D environment.A Day in the Life:Your tasks and responsibilities will be diverse and exciting, with the opportunity to participate in product development projects across multiple sites worldwide. As a technical and disciplinary manager of a highly skilled engineering team you will be developing mechanical systems, assemblies and components for sophisticated Life Science Mass Spectrometers.The project work includes all areas related to collaborative planning, setup, execution, and documentation of the Mechanical Engineering Design. This involves resource and budget planning as well as aligning team priorities to the business needs and roadmaps within our global organization.You will take care of the collaborative development of concepts and long-term plans for the Mechanical Engineering and Technical Design for current and future products including product life-cycle management. In this regard you will discuss and define hardware requirement specifications for new products in collaboration with the project R&D team, including design specifications in terms of quality, manufacturability, cost, and compliance with standards and regulations. Furthermore, you will closely interact globally with other engineering teams to align on the mechanical interfaces and product features.As a disciplinary manager you will have regular performance management discussions with your team members. These include annual goal setting and performance evaluations to actively support the development path of the individual team members.Additionally, you will cooperate with other engineering and sourcing managers in the strategic selection of suppliers as well as their technical support.Keys to Success:Education
- University degree in mechanical engineering, or related fields
- Several years of relevant working experience and strong expertise in mechanical hardware design in a leading position
- Professional experience in Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools, preferably in the context of sophisticated analytical instruments
- Experience in people management desirable
- Relevant design engineering skills, knowledge of SolidWorks design tools highly desirable
- Agile thinking and growth mindset
- A team leader who communicates openly and collaborates in a diverse environment
- A highly motivating, interdisciplinary thinking personality that drives results
- Trained to lead and to get decisions for complex issues
