JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Data Scientist to guide talented data science teams at Syneos Health. In this critical role, you will balance hands-on technical work with project management responsibilities to drive the development and execution of our data-driven projects. Your expertise in both machine learning and optimization techniques will ensure the delivery of innovative and efficient solutions that meet our business objectives. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker who can oversee projects while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists in the development of machine learning models and optimization algorithms, ensuring both technical excellence and alignment with business goals.

- Manage the entire lifecycle of data science projects, from problem definition and data collection to model development, evaluation, and deployment.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and IT, to define project scopes, set timelines, and deliver high-impact data science solutions.

- Apply frameworks and processes to streamline operations and improve the efficiency of data science workflows.

- Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, incorporating new technologies and methodologies to enhance project outcomes.

- Communicate complex data-driven insights and recommendations to senior management, driving strategic decision-making based on rigorous analysis.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

- A Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data science role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management position.

- Strong foundation in machine learning techniques and optimization algorithms, with a proven track record of applying these skills to solve real-world business problems.

- Experience managing end-to-end data science projects, including stakeholder management and team leadership.

- Proficiency in programming languages and tools used in data science (Python, SQL) and familiarity with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, capable of leading a team and interacting effectively with varied stakeholders.

Tech Stack:

- Python, SQL

- Machine Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)

- Optimization libraries (PuLP, Pyomo)

- MS Azure

The annual base salary (US Only) for this position ranges from $102,600 to $178,600.  The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position.  Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
