How will The Packaging Group Lead make an impact?

The Packaging Group Leader would be leading the safety, quality, efficiency and productivity of the Packaging Lines. Also responsible for performing as the Group Leader on multiple packaging formats and packaging lines.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for daily operations on the packaging line where they are assigned and responsible for successful execution of Line Packaging Records and associated documentation. 

  • Willing to train and develop new associates working on the packaging lines. 

  • Operate, recognize, and remedy quality problems, and perform changeovers and cleanups as required.

  • Perform packaging line operation, including operating/monitoring equipment, inspection, hand cartoning or packing, labeling, palletizing, cleanup, hopper filling, and other duties as required.

  • Assist in Line Clearances between batches, follow cleanup sheet directions, follow verbal orders or requests from group leader/supervisor, and perform other duties as required

  • Adjust functional parts of equipment and control instrumentation. Install or replace worn or faulty components for equipment performance restoration or improvement. Test equipment performance and record all data.

  • Participate in PPI (Practical Process Improvements), Lean and Continuous Improvement activities including 5S activities.

  • Work with Supervisor, Unit Coordinator, & Mechanics to ensure that quality, waste and efficiency are meeting requirements.

  • Complete improvement activities on quality and work process efficiency.

  • Follow quality standards in accordance with company policy.

How will The Packaging Group Lead get here?

  • Previous experience as a group leader or lead operator in packaging or manufacturing is helpful. Proven leadership experience or training is required

  • High school diploma required.

  • Applicants with the experience/exposure of working in a cleanroom environment are highly sought after.

  • Troubleshooting, assembly and testing skills required.

  • Experienced working in a related manufacturing line.

  • Pharmaceutical Packaging or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing experience is desired. 

  • Knowledge of packaging equipment set up and adjustments, packaging formats and packaging documentation is preferred. 

  • Working knowledge of applicable SOPs, GMPs, LPRs and quality test methods is preferred. 

  • Ability to complete GMP documentation neatly, correctly and legibly. Basic math skills are required

  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. for short periods. 

  • Social skills and the ability to work with and empower a diverse group of associates are also required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Basic knowledge and experience using manufacturing equipment & mechanical proficiency

  • Able to communicate well with others, have a collaboration focus, possess leadership skills and be willing to work overtime hours as required

  • Ability to read work instructions, and procedure manuals/diagrams

  • Ability to work well with minimal direction.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical production and packaging preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate a walk behind forklift (walkie stacker)

  • Position requires wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, various styles of dust masks or respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, and scrubs or modified gowning

  • Ability to hand scoop 5 lbs. intermittently throughout the work day

  • Ability to manipulate/handle drums weighing up to 60kg and lift containers and/or tooling weighing up to 20kg intermittently throughout the work day
