Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to use the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

This role will work fully on-site with our client in Rixensart, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will support preclinical projects in molecular biology. As a Scientist / Sr Scientist you will be responsible for

  • Support the generation of recombinant bacterial strains and sequencing of isolates from human samples
  • Organise and conducting laboratory experiments for gene cloning and vector design, expression and production optimization, transformation of bacterial host and selection/verification of recombinant strains
  • Process Clinical samples to extract RNA/DNA for sequencing
  • Perform lab experiments aimed at high-throughput sequencing using next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms.
  • Generation of raw sequencing data and then analyse this data
  • Recording of data in electronic laboratory notebook
  • Reporting of scientific data associated to laboratory experiments
  • Participate in weekly laboratory meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bio-engineering
  • Relevant experience planning and conducting laboratory experiments.
  • Proven experience with molecular biology laboratory techniques: bacteriology, cloning, PCR, qPCR, mutagenesis, sequencing, DNA extraction and preparation.
  • Knowledge and experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) is beneficial
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Fluency in English and French languages (oral and writing) is essential
  • Result-oriented, rigorous and structured.
