The Research and Safety Market Division (RSD) is a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, branded as Fisher Scientific, which markets and sells a vast portfolio of laboratory products and services. RSD’s portfolio represents the product lines of thousands of supplier/manufacturers in the laboratory space, both internal and external to Thermo Fisher and includes Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, Industrial and Government institutions that maintain scientific laboratories and engage in scientific research activities.

How will you make an impact?

As Account Manager you will be responsible for the sales of scientific products and services to academic researchers in The Netherlands. You will entertain effective and profitable customer relations with end-users and purchasers to maintain and grow sales, develop opportunities for growth and support market penetration with new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales and profit targets in your designated territory through effective selling to researchers and procurement people.
  • Build and maintain an effective network of connections within the Thermo Fisher Scientific organization and with representatives of the other suppliers. Negotiate improved terms as and when possible to increase profitability to the company.
  • Develop and implement a strategic and tactical sales plan for your specified territory and lead pricing within the territory to optimize profitability
  • Provide accurate and formal feedback on market trends, business opportunities, customers and competitor activity to Sales Management. (We use Salesforce.com as a CRM system)

How will you get here?

  • Proven sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory market.
  • Lacking the specific sales experience, the candidate should be confident, be able to discover customer needs and help defining solutions, have good negotiation skills, accurate time management, enjoy multidisciplinary teamwork, lead presentations on company capabilities and report accurately on business conditions and progress in the sales territory.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and the Web. Experience with SalesForce.com is and advantage.
  • Full driver’s license to travel frequently to customer locations.
  • Written and spoken Dutch and English.
  • Must be eligible to work in The Netherlands.
