Job Description

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Management will closely work with the Director, Portfolio Management Life Science, Chemicals &Chromatography, and the portfolio management leadership team to develop portfolio, category, and supplier strategies for the Chemicals &Chromatography Portfolio. The They will also be leading main Chemicals suppliers’ development and will directly own the relationship management for some of them.

They will also coordinate the overall Portfolio Expansion initiative from its definition, prioritization, andexecution.

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Management will work collaboratively with the European Category Management team to ensure the portfoliostrategy is implemented by the key internal collaborators, including Product Sales Managers (PSMs), Segmented Commercial Field Sales, Digital Sales, Export Markets and Marketing teams. They will interact with Commercial, Marketing and Supply Chain Leadership. On top oftheir specific assignment, they will develop a team of category managers responsible for a specific category and/or suppliers

Key responsibilities:

Be responsible for the engagement, performance, and development of the category team as a Role Model Leader.

Contribute to the development and complete a European portfolio/supplier strategy for the group of product categories they handle. This should encompass portfolio expansion, product margin improvement, supplier funding and support of ‘Share of Wallet’ initiatives.

Co-ordinate the category, Sourcing, Data, Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain to deliver a strategy that drives the establishment of a consistent pan-European portfolio. Delivering maximum commercial advantages for the RSD business and a consistent customer experience(product, price & service). This includes building a robust Private Label portfolio as appropriate for the category.

Continually assess product/market opportunities/gaps as they relate to the category. Be responsible for new supplier development activitiesthat add new products and categories that will supplement the portfolio and drive profitable revenue growth. Ensure that new launches are delivered in a consistent manner through use of standardized product launch packs using an agreed pan-European process.

Suggests and implement category business plans with a significant focus on growing sales and margins. These include coordinating supplierinitiatives in the field, coordinating new product launches and working with the marketing teams on promotional materials and other selling

tools

Ensure those agreed strategies are communicated with other functions (Sales, Marketing), such that they can complete them at aEuropean/regional level.

Implement the STP (Supplier Tiering Program or successor) as it relates to their category. Externally, through preferential focus on preferredsuppliers – meetings, securing promotional campaigns, joint sales engagement activities, etc. Internally, through championing preferredsuppliers with Sales & Marketing colleagues that results in tangibly better performance than non-STP suppliers in the same category.  

Workclosely with Sourcing on the (annual) negotiations with suppliers in their portfolio to secure the most effective position for the companyregarding pricing, product delivery and supplier support for the products, without compromising the company’s dedication to its clients. Suchnegotiations should ultimately be passionate about improving the profitability of the category and supplying to the overall functionalperformance.

Support operational improvement activities, through close working with the relevant functions, such as Compliance, Finance, CustomerService, and the Supply Chain function. These efforts should be centered on growing the customer experience, driving improvements to

operational efficiency, and ensuring the activities of the category meet regulatory requirements. Where appropriate, these should be backedup through the inclusion of relevant terms in contractual and / or service level agreements with suppliers.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

For this role and advance degree in Chemistry or Life Science associated with a proven business track of records in the EU laboratory market.

5+ years of lab proven experience, preferably in a commercial or portfolio management role.

Commercial experience with direct or indirect supervisory and/or team leadership experience. Remote management skills, or team leadershipacross a multi-country environment is helpful. • Excellent interpersonal, customer centricity, problem solving, and can-do attitude.

Flexibility to address immediate priorities and still manage deadlines with longer-term projects and pivotal initiatives.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

Advanced knowledge of the EMEA Chemicals and chromatography market

Fluent in English, additional European Languages would be highly appreciated.

Willingness to travel 30%, some international is expected.

Strong Time Management Skills with flexibility and a functional understanding of managing personal productivity.

Well-developed general business acumen with a thorough understanding of financial data and reporting methodologies, including commonKey Performance Indicator metrics.

Proven experience in at least two (and preferably more) of the following areas:

Prior commercial experience in a portfolio management, sales, procurement merchandising or marketing organization.

A technical background in Chemicals, engineering, or research, to include an awareness of technology trends and the evolution of scientificapplications.

Previous experience with portfolio management 􀀀 Industry-related experience in laboratory products or life sciences
