The Esoterix division at LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join their team in Calabasas, CA! Esoterix provides esoteric testing for hospitals and physician specialists, primarily specializing in endocrinology and GI testing. Esoterix goal is to provide premier laboratory services that positively impact patient care and cost-effective medical treatment.  The Lab Assistant will perform non-technical procedures in support of the testing process from initial set up of supplies to disposal of waste. This position will be heavily focused on specimen handling and storage and involves working in a freezer.

The schedule for this position will be: 3rd shift, Tuesday-Saturday 9pm-5:30am

Location: 4301 Lost Hills Rd, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301

Responsibilities:

  • Manages storage of serum, whole blood, plasma, saliva and urine samples.
  • Handles proper disposal of radioactive and biohazard waste.
  • Performs sample management tasks such as volumization, labeling, storage, moving storage boxes and preparation for disposal.
  • Assists in locating missing samples and pulling specimens from storage locations.
  • Properly discarding patient samples.
  • Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
  • Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience or training in a health care environment highly preferred
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens 
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens 
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test

Pay Range: $18.00-23.00/hr plus 15% shift differential
