Strategic Proposal Writer

Purpose

Deliver high quality, professional, strategic proposal documents to customers in a timely manner. Ensure that text clearly and succinctly conveys technical understanding and best value solutions. Ensure that proposal content addresses the customer’s needs and ‘hot buttons’, as well as IQVIA differentiators.

Strategic proposal writer (SPW) will work with proposal developers (PDs) to provide overall strategic guidance to proposal process. Responsible for professional quality of proposals and ensuring:

• Content is on point: Addresses customer hot buttons, specific needs and IQVIA differentiators.
• Text is well-written: Concise, clear and coherent.
• Document is well presented: Follows usage and formatting conventions, is grammatically correct, consistent and well-presented.

Responsibilities

• Review Requests for Proposal (RFP). Identify information for proposal text and budget development and work closely with proposal development team to prepare and finalise proposals.
• Prepare text and budget for proposals, rebids and related documents.
• Provide support and assistance to other Proposal Developers in the delivery of assigned opportunities.
• Revise or develop preliminary agreements and related budgets and scope of work. Ensure the scope of work is defined correctly and budgets reflect the scope.
• Develop an understanding of and be compliant to all processes and policies relating to the development of proposals.
• Participate in strategy calls to discuss customer requirements and identify discrepancies in customer information.
• Perform quality control edits on all documents and participate in the finalization of documents and distribution to the customer and internal departments.
• Provide comprehensive self-review of proposal text in preparation for final Global Business Operations (GBO) QC and customer delivery. May also provide final GBO QC of text for colleagues.
• Stay abreast of all new products and the IQVIA brand and solutions. 
• Perform other duties as assigned• Update and maintain corporate databases as required and ensure accurate information is included in tracking reports.

Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Skilled at visualizing documents and communicating vision clearly and simply, verbally and in writing.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of CRO Industry.
• Excellent MS Word skills.
• Background in journalism, clinical research, communications, writing specialization, or business very helpful but not essential.
• Ability and confidence to work independently, make sound decisions, and escalate appropriately in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to balance strong attention to detail with overall business and deliverable objectives.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback in a positive manner.

• Excellent knowledge of proposal processes.
• Ability to interpret RFPs to gather top information and ability to interpret protocols.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, senior level executives, and customers.

Minimum required education and experience

Degree in related field and a minimum of 1-2 years’ direct experience in CRO such as proposals/contracts or equivalent combination of education, training and experience, clinical experience or business development background.

• Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
