Database Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Support for Production databases. This includes all Production, Disaster Recovery, User Acceptance Testing and Development environments
• Install, configure and upgrade databases, Oracle Dataguard, ASM and RAC on Linux
• Rapid response to address high severity incidents
• Pro-active issue detection and resolution as well as service monitoring
• Service restoration subsequent to unanticipated outages or disruptions
• Driving root cause analysis and resolution to closure
• Identification and driving of database related service quality improvements and engineering deliverables
• Automation and process improvement of database activities
• Oracle Server software/products installation, configuration and upgrade
• Establishing strategy for backup and recovery policies and procedures
• A DBA should have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Hosted database/application tuning and performance monitoring
• Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
• Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support

Qualifications & Skills:

• 5-7 years of relevant experience
• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, Engineering
• Administer standalone and RAC databases on versions ranging for 11G to 19/20c on Oracle Linux Platforms.
• Work on database cloning and duplications using Data Pump and RMAN.
• Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges)
• Database encryption knowledge
• Experience in Oracle Enterprise Management tool
• Must have proficiency in Oracle database architecture, logical and physical design, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/ SQL programming, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, automation, backup and recovery, standby
• Evaluate Database Server Hardware for Oracle application features and related products
• Strong working knowledge of Linux
• Understanding of command line and server administration
• Command of shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl)
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to match stakeholder expectations to urgently deliver exceptional results
