How will you make an impact?

The Procurement Manager leads and coordinates activities of personnel related to the timely, cost-effective Sourcing & Procurement of chromatography raw materials & finished goods to support manufacturing operations in a fast paced team environment. Establishes best practice procurement processes, and delivers year-over-year cost savings. Works on problems of diverse scope including analysis of data.  

What will you do:

  • Lead all aspects of Sourcing and Procurement as necessary to maintain a reliable and cost competitive source of supply for the site in Rockwood, TN.
  • Lead and/or support the negotiation of complex requests for chromatography consumables from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.
  • Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price with timely delivery while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Hiring, training, developing, and leading the procurement department employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce inventory costs, streamline processes, and implement solutions. (Utilizing Kanban, consigned and vendor-managed inventory where applicable.)
  • Deploy, manage and report all related supply chain KPI’s monthly:
  • Coordinate with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory carrying costs.
  • Ensure suppler performance to lead times and optimization of safety stock for customer service levels and inventory.
  • Minimize/eliminate any past due customer orders through implementation of an effective and efficient supply chain of incoming raw materials and finished goods.
  • Meet annual site Sourcing savings targets, working closely with the Global Sourcing Team and Product Management.
  • Participate, review, and provide recommendations and oversight in forecasting, production planning, and logistics planning activities.
  • Key site liaison to monthly SIOP (Sales Inventory & Operations Planning) process as required.

How will you get here:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with studies in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
  • 5+ years of materials planning, purchasing, and sourcing experience.
  • 5+ years of verifiable experience in a people leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong ability to coach, mentor and lead people to effectively work as a Team.
  • Skilled in working with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written).
  • Experience with driving change management with demonstrated ability to influence.
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of Sourcing concepts.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data from ERP systems, utilizing Excel and Access.
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Focus on the customer when organizing and managing the execution of deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organizational objectives.
  • Driven and self-motivated; calculated risk taker with a bias for action that achieves results.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
