Network Telecom Engineer III

Job Description

DUTIES: Optimize and support a large scale, complex, high performance networks across Thermo Fisher Scientific’s global footprint; 

Research and provide both business and technical solutions based on and related to customer needs and network specifications and deploy them into production and infrastructure;

Monitor, test, analyze, and evaluate the existing network environment and optimize it based on resiliency, technological advancements, and cost;

Fulfill Network Requests by Business Stakeholders on a weekly basis in Service NOW (i.e. firewall, LAN, WAN, Wireless, F5, cloud requests);

Participate in network on call rotation;

General knowledge of IT general practices and methods with specialized knowledge in multiple technical disciplines such as, cloud, telecommunications, network & automation;

Provide network engineering support of enterprise network devices and services comprising of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPNs, Load Balancers, SD-WAN, Cloud Connect and Network Management Solutions across LAN/WAN;

Drive quality into reported metrics including measurement issues, network capacity, vendor equipment failures and network performance, as well as continual assessment of the quality and effectiveness of network monitoring and alerting;

Document maintenance, enhancements, and performance for effective network operations and management.

** Willing to travel up to 25% U.S. domestic and international.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study plus 4 years of experience in managing engineering and operations or related experience. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study plus 2 years of experience in managing engineering and operations or related experience as an equivalent alternative.

Must have knowledge or experience with:

OSS/BSS: Service Now or Jira;

Cisco LAN Equipment;

Palo Alto or Fortigate Firewalls;

F5;

Network: SD-WAN, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VPN, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, and Load Balancers.
