How will you make an impact?

The positions objective is to lead the assigned shift team in providing both re-active and pro-active, multiskilled operation support team. To deliver site targets by ensuring the facility structure, utilities, manufacturing systems and equipment are maintained to a world class standard.

The primary function of the role is to manage the shift team to ensure all shift tasks are being completed along with improving operational effectiveness, project delivery, mean time between failures & downtime reduction. Managing and implementing improvement plans with the teams, driving key performance indicators (KPI’s) and ensuring all EHS requirements are adhered to.

What will you do?

  • The role of the operational support lead engineer is to take the lead for the shift and ensure that the facility are at the correct standard.
  • Manage, mentor and develop the shift team assigned to help achieve the agreed objectives and which delivers standard process results, added new value and continuous improvements - highlighting deficiencies & recommending changes in training, working practices & processes.
  • Implement & manage continuous improvement initiatives using PPI methodology and other process excellence techniques (kaizen’s, SMED, 5s, lean six sigma, SPC).
  • Supply to new business initiatives & projects, review & communicate impact on operation support team’s activities and feedback to department.
  • Collaborate and share standard process and knowledge across departments & manufacturing sites, to improve current process equipment & systems to identify/deliver productivity improvements.
  • Participate as a team member in sophisticated multi-functional projects taking the lead role when required on engineering actions and sub project.
  • Use trouble shooting & problem-solving techniques to ensure any facility, facility systems and manufacturing equipment issues are investigated & repaired in a timely manner.
  • Complete & supervise crucial preventative maintenance tasks – providing clear and concise handover to the department at end of shift.
  • Complete & monitor essential corrective work order tasks – providing clear and concise handover to the department at end of shift.
  • Update, review and analyse department KPIs (daily/weekly/monthly) to ensure operational support teams performance is being achieved and maintained along with identifying improvement opportunities using data driven decisions.
  • Work with other departments to develop and improve the current facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment to help deliver change and improve key performance metrics & goals

Education -

  • Practically Engineer - Electricity, Mechanics, Electronics
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Minimum practical engineer or higher in technical / scientific field
  • Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment would be desirable but not crucial
  • Previous experience within team and delivering projects work crucial
  • Experience of working and maintaining facility & process equipment crucial
  • Role could require occasional travel and out of hours working
  • Role will require working in controlled environments e.g. Cleanroom
