Technical Application Specialist II - Protein Diagnostics

Location:

The ideal candidate will reside in or around Madrid.

A Field Application Specialist is considered a “remote” colleague and will be issued a fleet vehicle to allow for travel to multiple customer locations, mostly in the south of Spain. Some overnight travel (20-25%) will be expected.

The Field Application Specialist provides training and technical support in the application of the full range of The Binding Site products, including instrumentation and assays. Our ideal candidate will be customer-focused, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer laboratories, drive focus and improve customer delivery and overall experience, and be eager to drive growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial user training courses to ensure correct handling of analyzers. Conduct additional training sessions as needed to educate and support customers in the optimal use of The Binding Site assays and protocols. Provide information on the technical aspects related to the analysis of special proteins and advise the client on the interpretation of the results.           
  • Provide technical support for application of TBS products (assays and analyzers), using problem solving and analytical skills to help in investigation and resolution of customer complaints and enquiries.
  • Working both on and off site in a predominantly customer facing role, traveling sometimes at short notice.       
  • Supporting and advising sales, Marketing, Technical specialists and Engineers to identify risk and handle technical complaints.         
  • Support Area Managers by reporting on the observed, customer usage patterns, new business opportunities or any other aspect that may help them in their commercial activity.              
  • Provide technical and administrative support when needed. For example, support in scientific clinical studies (analysis of samples, data collection, statistical calculation), writing of technical reports, etc.
  • Create and maintain technical support literature and training materials.   
  • Maintain a competent and updated and knowledge in Immunology and related pathologies, especially in Monoclonal Gammopathies, as well as of all the company's products and analyzers and competitors’ products. 
  • Attend national and international training courses as required.     
  • Provide backup for C/S and Technical specialist functions when required.
  • Properly report the service activity through the company's integrated management system, IFS (work orders, expense notes, CRM, etc.)  
  • Carry out specific projects, tasks or reports commissioned by the Manager.
  • Keep the Technical Applications Supervisor/Technical Service Manager advised of issues and support needs.        Must be customer-focused, working in conjunction with applications and sales teams.

Qualifications:

  • Science related degree.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of Immunology would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures would be desirable.
  • Customer service and support experience, remotely and face to face.
  • Experience in training a group of people ensuring trainee needs are met.
  • Experience in working with computers and systems.
  • Intermediate level of English
  • Maintain a valid car driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
