We are looking for a creative, innovative, intellectually curious and entrepreneurial AI Solutions Business Development Principal to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the world's leading AI & Machine Learning teams working with real world data to help our clients answer specific questions, make more informed decisions and deliver results.

The role

This is an exciting role for a Principal who is keen to help shape and grow a high profile and highly motivated predictive analytics team at the cutting-edge of life science. You will be exposed to both tier 1 and emerging pharmaceutical clients, diverse disease areas, complex healthcare challenges and market-leading anonymized patient datasets. This is an unrivalled opportunity to accelerate your career in an exciting direction.

Your work will span two key areas:

Business Development: You will assume a leadership role across a range of business development areas, playing a pivotal part in the ambitious and exciting growth agenda of the team. You will work closely with IQVIA’s diverse route to market channels (including client-aligned Principals and account managers) to identify and drive business opportunities for existing Predictive Analytics offerings. You will be responsible for designing high quality proposals to meet client business objectives, demonstrating innovation and pragmatism where appropriate, and maintaining a relentless client-focus throughout.

Delivery: You will oversee the design and delivery of advanced machine learning projects for US clients, such as developing algorithms to find undiagnosed patients with rare conditions. You will assume overall responsibility for the delivery of multiple projects, overseeing a talented team of dedicated Consultants and Data Scientists across multiple projects. Your role will typically be strategic, demonstrating critical thinking and ensuring that the solution design is fit-for-purpose. You will serve as a subject matter expert for problem escalation and resolution. You will typically not be involved in day-to-day delivery, though you will be called upon to support in this capacity from time-to-time.  In this role, you will also support the on-going improvement and refinement of the Predictive Analytics portfolio of offerings and the delivery process for these offerings.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Extensive experience leading the sale, design and delivery of analytics projects in the commercial sector end-to-end with proven delivery capability including capturing requirements, designing analysis plans, interfacing with clients and delivering compelling presentations of results.
  • A highly successful and demonstrable track record of building relationships with clients and internal stakeholders in order to drive business development.
  • Extensive experience in a healthcare consulting environment.
  • An ability to think strategically about commercial healthcare challenges and the ways in which these could be addressed through machine learning applications based on large-scale patient data.
  • Excellent understanding of patient-level, longitudinal data such as insurance claims, EHR, etc., with demonstrable experience of delivering multiple projects using this type of data.
  • A proactive, innovative and pragmatic approach to problem solving and an ability to think critically and independently.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including ability to present technical concepts to lay audiences, write proposals, pitch ideas effectively and persuasively to clients / internal stakeholders, etc.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a client focused, results-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with analysis of healthcare issues, particularly analytical issues relating to studies of treatment effectiveness, disease detection, therapy transitions, disease progression, adherence, healthcare utilization, etc.
  • Strong advanced statistical and / or machine learning knowledge is preferable. In the absence of this, a good understanding of when such methods can provide value, coupled with a willingness to upskill, is paramount.
