Associate Medical Director - Gastroenterology

We are looking for an Associate Medical Director, Gastroenterology to join our company. In this role you will initiate and maintain medical and consultative relationships with clients, consult on early engagement and pre-award efforts and serve as a medical monitor for contracted projects. As a Medical Director you may take on leadership roles by participating in initiatives, mentoring junior MDs and/or, where appropriate, managing a team of physicians.

The role can be based anywhere in Europe, home or office based, depending upon the country and city.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide medical expertise to clients:

o Consultancy on protocol development and drug development programs

o Medical review of various documents (such as informed consent forms), which might be audited by clients and regulatory agencies

• Participate in activities to raise, coordinate and promote Parexel’s medical expertise in Gastroenterology, both internally and externally

• Provide medical expertise / leadership as part of the Proposal Development Teams (PDTs) for client bid pursuit meetings

• Actively listen to, solicit and address client feedback and suggestions regarding medical study-related activities in order to enhance client satisfaction

• In line with business development objectives, meet and attend phone conferences with clients to communicate and detail Parexel medical expertise and experience in Gastroenterology

• Share sponsor insights and experiences (strategy, history, culture, priorities etc.) with peer and proposal teams

• Support patient centricity, diversity and inclusion in all projects

• Coach and mentor junior team members on effective collaboration with clients as appropriate

• Serve as a medical monitor for Gastroenterology studies as required, which includes review of subjects’ medical history, concomitant medication use, review of screening and monitoring laboratory values, review of adverse events

QualificationsSkills and Experience required for the role:

• Board certified or equivalent in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology or Pediatrics and Gastroenterology

• Experience in clinical care, research and participation in clinical trials; within the therapeutic area of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis) preferred

• Good knowledge of the drug development process, including drug safety, preferred

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with sponsor/client counterparts

• Client-focused approach to work

• Excellent verbal and written medical communication skills

• Excellent standard of written and spoken English
