This position is in Redwood City, CA. @ Customer Site from 8AM-5PM/

How do we make an impact?

Unity Lab Services provides a single source for coordinated lab service, support, and supply management. Our customized service offerings and world-class service experts have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address our customer’s laboratory's business needs.

What will you do?

  • Warehouse duties/ to perform inbound and outbound domestic and international shipping, picking, packing, labeling, loading, and receiving shipment, working with road, air and ocean freight companies. Participate in cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Stockroom/POU management, dispensing of product, and follow coordination of affiliated stockroom activities.
  • Palletize, shrink wrap materials/ Moving pallets/ driving forklift/ Assisting in load and unload materials.
  • Perform on-site program replenishments and disbursements.
  • Perform stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirements.
  • Customer service activities may include order entry, expediting, customer service call resolution, return goods authorization, processing of backorders, vendor and customer interaction, problem resolution, working with3rd party & agent buys.
  • Using order/inventory management platform and/or customer ordering system.
  • Reviewing, crafting, and maintaining of company data log sheets
  • Follows well defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOPs & work instructions. Take direction from Site Supervisor/Manager regarding daily duties
  • Communicates with supervisor any customer issues or potential problems
  • Ordering of stockroom supplies
  • Sort and categorize materials
  • Providing customer support to clients
  • Performing Area Audits of cross-functional areas within ULS
  • Works efficiently with a diverse cross-functional team.
  • Listens to customer concerns, efficiently diffuses dissatisfaction, and quickly identifies course of action with a goal of first call resolution within established turnaround times.
  • Effectively address customer concerns within established resolution timeframes.
  • Engage in process improvement activities
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned by management

How will you get here?

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree in a related field preferred, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills. Military Service/Training in lieu of a degree may also be considered.

Experience

2 years of related experience within a laboratory setting is preferred.

Experience working in customer service is also a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific's values, including confidentiality.
  • Possesses a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site.
  • Independently operates handheld scanners to enter data in various systems as needed; as well as analytical skills to reconcile reports.
  • Demonstrates computer proficiency and possesses intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software. Uses interpersonal skills to multi-task and meet due dates as needed.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)
  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes, bump hats, and/or safety glasses.
  • Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 pounds occasionally, including operation and use of pushcarts, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
  • Regularly required to stand or walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.42–$32.13.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
