Job Overview

The Head of Identity & Access Management (IAM) role presents a dynamic opportunity to ensure the secure operation of the IQVIA global information technology (IT) infrastructure and processes through developing and implementing new IAM capabilities, amending and improving existing capabilities, as well as enabling the use of such capabilities across the enterprise.

This role plays a large part in our global Information Security team and will provide an excellent opportunity to liaise with key external and internal stakeholders while strengthening our Information Security function.

You will work closely with both the CISO and our Chief Information Officer (CIO) and their direct reports within IQVIA. You will be part of a global CIO organization structure partnering with the Business Units community and their related teams.

You will also find yourself working together with other IQVIA Information Security managers and staff, and liaising regularly with senior management at IQVIA, including Business Units leadership teams. This is an opportunity to join and progress with a forward thinking department.

Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Direct and deliver global IAM program of work, focusing on new enterprise-grade technological, procedural and organizational capabilities across the enterprise, as well as improvements to existing IAM capabilities
  • Define and drive implementation of IAM architecture strategies for IQVIA with respect to technology domain standards and design goals, including but not limited to such areas as: global single sign-on (SSO) for external and internal users, role-based authorization and segregation of duties (SoD), privileged access, automation of identity provisioning and de-provisioning, access re-certification, user identity stores
  • Direct and deliver on the relevant information security projects and workstreams aimed at rolling-out global enterprise-grade IAM solutions through onboarding and integration into IQVIA corporate and business systems and applications on a priority basis, both proactively and on-demand in response to Business Units objectives
  • Direct the support effort for the delivery of IAM-related projects across the enterprise, including CIO and Business Units project portfolios, by providing necessary IAM subject-matter expertise, team resources and contribution to both secure solution designs and configurations
  • Direct the team effort and resources in support of IQVIA’s ongoing activities within architecture governance and design review boards and committees as applicable to the IAM-related input
  • Direct technical and organizational delivery of complex identity and access management solutions that enable IQVIA users and external customers and vendors to access systems and data while maintaining the principle of least privilege
  • Direct and ensure delivery of IAM architecture frameworks, design templates, standards, reference architectures and guidance materials in alignment with the IQVIA Integrated Information Security Framework (IISF) in application to both enterprise-wide and localized IAM solutions.
  • Direct and lead the research focused on identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce risks, optimize costs, and improve security posture while enhancing business-process efficiencies, improving user experience thus providing business value and enabling business capabilities
  • In collaboration with internal (CIO, Office of General Counsel, HR, Internal Audit, Business Units and other) and external stakeholders, develop roadmaps and deployment plans for IAM solutions and related processes and procedures in line with the overall global Information Security strategy
  • Direct evaluation of IAM components of the enterprise architecture, conducting feasibility studies for selecting appropriate and cost-effective solutions
  • Engage with and direct activities of third-party specialist service providers and vendors where necessary to support IAM deliverables, including carrying out vendor and product selections and organizing necessary operational support
  • Reporting regularly to the CISO and CIO on the status of the IAM program, including metrics for both new capabilities implementation and ongoing enablement across the enterprise, and including any risks and remediation actions
  • Develop talent in the IAM team through directing, coaching and mentoring direct reports as well as other Information Security team members where applicable, and supporting team recruitment objectives
  • Manage IAM budget within annual plan

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in overall, IT Delivery, IT Program Management, Information Security or other related areas, including minimum of 8 years in IAM management roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related areas is mandatory
  • A CIAM, CIGE, CIMP or equivalent professional certificate in the IAM domain is mandatory
  • An information security professional certificate such as CISSP, CISM or equivalent is preferred
  • An ITIL, project management or IT architecture, such as TOGAF, CEH or GIAC or other related certificates are preferred
  • Working knowledge of IT governance frameworks and standards such as CobiT, ITIL, ISO27001, NIST cybersecurity framework
  • Working knowledge of IT architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and/or project management methodologies
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements frameworks related to information security for healthcare data, such as GxP, HIPAA, GDPR and/or equivalent regional frameworks is preferred
  • Experience in information technology related positions with working knowledge of IAM processes and domains including user registration, user on-boarding, authentication, authorization, privileged access, user identity stores
  • Experience in and working knowledge of project management methodologies including systems development lifecycle
  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives
  • Strong leadership, people management and talent development skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate across countries and cultures, and at all levels of the organization
  • Relationship building skills and ability to influence change without direct authority
  • Attention to detail combined with strategic perspective
  • Excellent vendor and supplier management skills, including vendor performance management
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information

  • The position may require occasional domestic and international travel
