What will you do?

Contribute to the development of a new DNA photolithography tool, particularly the Reagent Delivery Module (RDM) prototype, aiming for integration with other process equipment and automation tools. Collaborate with stakeholders, R&D, and cross-functional teams to precisely define tool requirements and specifications crucial for project success. Evaluate existing systems, offering technical direction to plan and establish a pilot line for R&D applications. Develop process and throughput models based on tool capabilities, analyzing the cost and benefits of the proposed system. Supervise equipment transfer and the development of software and hardware, working closely with development teams and vendors. Lead R&D verification for both the tool and process, collaborating with other functional teams for validation.

How will you get here?

Education

Engineering background. Bachelor’s degree with 15 years relative experience or master’s degree with more than 10 years relative experience or PhD degree with more than 6 years relative experience.

Experience

Experience in semiconductor industry system, process and equipment principles; experience in industrial R&D or product development and transfer will be plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong hands-on experience in prototype tool development, process optimization, and debugging of complex instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling up and setting up pilot lines, including knowledge of verification and validation processes/documentation.
  • Proficient in IPQC metrology setup and data analysis.
  • Proven track record in cross-functional and cross-site project management.
  • Fluidic experience is a plus.
  • Advantageous to have experience in automation.
  • Maintains a high level of professional expertise by staying updated on current engineering/scientific literature, competing technologies, and products.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

The R&D Product Engineer will play a key role in supporting technology and product development efforts within the Microarray Business Unit of ThermoFisher Scientific's Genetic Sciences Division. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in working with photolithography tools and systems, collaborating with diverse cross-functional groups including molecular biology, chemistry, software, bioinformatics, and product management. Responsibilities include contributing to ongoing systems engineering and architecture activities for next-generation microarray products.
