Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to join our multi-functional engineering team, focusing on the development of brand-new flow cytometry instrumentation. The successful candidate will play a crucial supporting role in qualifying new methods, materials, and processes for new instrumentation development. This individual will work closely with a broad group of engineering fields in order to facilitate the development of a final product, provide feedback on how parts/assemblies/subsystems can be improved, and will also serve in a key supporting role following the launch of instrumentation.

The Day-to-Day

  • Collaborate with firmware, software, and hardware engineers to ensure the successful integration of all subsystems into a single, high-performance instrument
  • Optimize the performance of the instrument by analyzing system interactions, identifying issues, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement test plans for verifying and validating system functionality and performance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve system integration issues, providing technical support to engineering teams and maintaining open lines of communication to ensure a smooth development process.
  • Continuously assess the system architecture and recommend improvements to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Document system integration processes, methodologies, and procedures to broadly share expertise for the benefit of internal teams outside of R&D and increase the maintainability of the integrated system.

How will you get here?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSME with 7+ years of experience or Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering.
  • Proactive, engaged, and inquisitive nature, with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and resolution skills across a broad multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Fast learner with the ability to work effectively within a diverse, multi-functional team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with root cause analysis on instruments containing optical, PCBA, fluidic, and machined elements.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency, creativity, problem-solving skills, communication, and task management abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing tooling, systems, and techniques.
  • Proven track record of building and testing prototypes.
  • Excellent design architecture and implementation skills

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range estimated for this position is $107,900 - $161,825 annualized. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
