Job Description

The procurement specialist leads activities related to timely, efficient Sourcing & Procurement of raw materials & sub-assemblies to support both New Product Introduction and also manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment; establishes procurement processes, works on problems of diverse scope including analysis of data, and leads supplier delivery plans.

What will you do:

  • Drive procurement for new products, and coordinate sourcing related activities with cross-functional site team, and Category Managers.
  • Lead supply chain activities from prototyping purchases including equipment for R&D, to manufacturing pilot, to mass production. Build bid packages and perform analysis, reviewing findings and recommendations with Purchasing, Category Management Teams, and key collaborators. Targeting we deliver innovating products to our customers!
  • Drive purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends, and develop a system to evaluate vendor quotations. We use appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service
  • Drive suppliers to deliver high quality products and services at a better price with timely delivery while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce inventory costs, improve processes, and implement solutions. (Utilizing Kanban, consigned and vendor-managed inventory where applicable.)
  • Coordinate with engineering teams the supplier capability, and with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory excess.
  • Ensure suppler performance to lead times and optimization of safety stock for customer service levels and inventory.
  • Minimize/eliminate any past due customer orders through implementation of an effective and efficient supply chain of incoming raw materials and finished goods.
  • Meet annual site Sourcing savings targets, working closely with the Engineering, Global Sourcing Team and Product Management on site actions
  • Key site liaison for the product lines supply to monthly SIOP process (Sales Inventory & Operations Planning)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of materials planning, purchasing, and sourcing experience, preferably in High Tech Systems environment with high mix and low volumes.
  • 5+ Experience in sourcing Mechanical assemblies/Electronics/PCBA/EMS/Cables and negotiating the best pricing, MOQ, and lot sizes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Skilled in working with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written).
  • Experience with inspiring change, and influence!
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of Sourcing concepts.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data from ERP system SAP, ORACLE PLM, and using Excel.
  • Strong analytical, planning and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and react quickly to changing priorities: focus on the customer first when prioritizing and running the execution of results
  • Analyze, develop and apply data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organization objectives
  • Ability to travel between 10%-20% on an annual basis

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $112,500.00–$169,000.00.
