In more details, you will…

¨ Perform complex troubleshooting and assist senior scientists in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation.

¨ Perform new assay and technology validations under the direction of more senior scientific staff. May participate in respective documentation.

¨ Apply and interpret scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements in clinical studies in partnership with more senior scientific staff.

¨ Provide consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues.

¨ Respond to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties.

¨ Assist with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance.

¨ May provide technical training for operational staff.

¨ Provide assay specific technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) as requested.

¨ Assist in managing scientific vendor and relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities.

¨ Assist in managing internal partners (such as IT) in the establishment of new instrumentation and assays.

¨ Regularly read literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge.

What we’re looking for 

Life science engineer Associate Scientists are the most successful at Labcorp with:  

• 1-2 years relevant industry experience plus a BA or BS within scientific area of expertise.

• Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements above.

• Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports.

• Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software, Microsoft applications and laboratory statistics.

• Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients.

• Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data.

• Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution.
