Research Nurse

The Research Nurse I is responsible for ensuring the safety of subjects jointly with the team of physicians. The Research Nurse I applies techniques related to the position according to established standards and expected study-related results.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•Provide front-line medical support to subjects.

•Intervene and document when adverse events occur and verify follow-up of adverse events on study, including following-up by phone.

•Communicate relevant information to the medical team in order to ensure the overall safety of subjects.

•Collaborate with the medical team to advise and inform subjects on matters regarding medical study-related questions.

•Administer appropriate treatment as necessary.

•Maintain any medication in the site’s emergency crash carts, cabinets and bags.

•Share acquired knowledge when preparing special projects.

•Ensure that the informed consent form is appropriately explained, understood and completed by the subject.

•Perform general tasks according to the protocol or to the study conduct (e.g. vital signs, , electrocardiograms, physiological data measurement, meals distribution and monitoring, preparation of required supplies and equipment, etc.)

Perform technical activities related to their field of expertise and/or related to specific trainings (e.g.catheter insertion and venipuncture, medication administration (including intradermal, sub-cutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injections), blood donation, vaccination, etc.)

•Perform monitoring tasks related to their field of expertise and/or related to specific trainings (e.g. holter, telemetry, etc.)

•Actively participate in improving the work environment by identifying problems and suggesting tangible actions or corrective measures.

Offer a good quality customer service experience.

•May be assigned other clinical tasks.

Responsible for performing activities that are in compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Operating Guidelines and performing other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Position in Canada

•College degree in Nursing

Position in US

•Registered Nurse (RN) - Associates (ASN) or Bachelors (BSN)

Relative alternate certification may be considered acceptable.

This determination ensures the jobholder has sufficient technical ability to perform the role.

•One to 2 years of relevant work experience would be considered an asset.

•Must demonstrate good computer skills especially in the utilization of Microsoft Word and Excel and clinical software.

•Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with an ability to inform, influence, convince, and persuade

•Experience in regulatory context will be considered an asset

Position in Canada:

•English level: Required bilingualism includes understanding various messages, exchanging verbally on subjects related to the tasks to be executed, and writing simple messages.

•Active membership of the OIIQ

Position in US:

•Spanish level: Required bilingualism includes understanding various messages, exchanging verbally on subjects related to the tasks to be executed, and writing simple messages.

Other (optional): Candidate who does not possess the required training and/or experience may be considered under different criteria.
