LabCorp is seeking a Specialty Lab Assistant to join our team in Miami, FL. This role works in a high-volume, hospital based environment performing a vital component of the lab. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".

The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 9:30am-6pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies all specimens and part types for each case received.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens 
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store specimen samples 
  • Enters all data in an accurate and timely manner 
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
  • Receive and sort lab specimens
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
  • Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality stand

Requirements:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w/1-2 years of experience
  • Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
