Research Associate/Technical Writer

The Privacy Analytics Advisory Services team is seeking a Research Associate to perform policy and legal background research and to write reports for internal use or in support of client deliverables or thought leadership. The reports will summarize issues related to data privacy, especially data sharing and reuse including but not limited to data de-identification and statistical disclosure control, with a strong focus on global regulations, standards, and best practice.
Working with the Advisory Services team, the Research Associate will focus primarily on providing written summaries of background research to assist with the successful completion of client engagements lead by members of the Advisory Services team. Under guidance from the Chief Methodologist and Advisory Services team lead, the Research Associate will assist in developing full reports, presentation content, and marketing material based upon this research. As needed, the Research Consultant/Professional Writer will also contribute to general writing and marketing requirements at Privacy Analytics.
An advanced university degree with a strong focus on research and writing is expected. The ability to gain information from various sources, perform detailed research analyses, and develop exceptional written reports is critical for success in this role. Expertise will be required to understand and communicate in a clear and concise manner to internal audiences and stakeholders.

Technical Writer – half-time
Our Clinical Trials Transparency team is growing. We’re hiring a Clinical Trials Technical Writer to support an expanding line of business. In this role you will prepare, review, revise, and maintain CTT anonymization process documentation.
As an ideal candidate you learn quickly and can produce extremely accurate, precise work within tight timelines. Preferably you are familiar with medical / healthcare language, technology savvy, and your excellent communication skills are complemented by strong technical acumen and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• Advisory Services:
o Conduct research and literature reviews under the direction of the Chief Methodologist and Advisory Services team lead
o Monitor regulatory developments
o Assist in developing concise research and writing plan descriptions
o Develop expertise in data privacy regulations and standards, especially the sharing and reuse of data
o Inform the development of marketing materials in a thought leadership role
• CTT:
o Develop a deep understanding of our anonymization methodology
o Own assigned projects or project tasks and deliver such on time and with the required quality, providing timely and transparent status updates
o Prepare, review, revise, and maintain CTT anonymization process documentation
o Standardize content across the anonymization process steps
o Create practices that encourage keeping the process documentation up to date and easily discoverable
o Liaise with Engineering Team regarding CTT software changes/issues including attending Engineering Touchpoint meetings
o Liaise with CTT Technical Lead about anonymization process changes / issues and attend Process Change Working Group meetings
o Ensure that process and engineering documentation updates are complete and in step with General Availability (GA) build release including CTT User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Limited Availability (LA) documentation
o Ensure the current process documentation is updated in the Confluence space
o Collaborate closely with other team members, ensuring that all work meets established quality standards and is completed on time
Essential Qualifications:
• 8 plus years’ experience as Technical Writer with at least 4 years’ experience business process technical writing and 3 years’ experience documenting software, or equivalent
• MA in English Literature, Philosophy, Law, Social Science, or related field
• Extensive research and writing experience
• Willingness to take initiative and work with minimal direction
• Decision making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to present work and explain findings to senior leadership
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional detail-orientation
• The drive to meet exacting deadlines and the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
• Ability to manage sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality
• Experience with Adobe PDF and MS Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Confluence), is required. Familiarity with Adobe FrameMaker and Robohelp would be considered an asset

Asset Qualifications:
• Advanced degree and publication experience
• Knowledge of data privacy, data de-identification or statistical disclosure control
• Previous consulting work
• Medical writing or exposure to clinical trial documentation
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science
