Chances are, you or someone you know has benefited from a medicine or medical device that Labcorp helped develop. </span></span>Your role is vital to improving the health of family, friends and animals.</span></p><p></p></div></div></div></div><h2><span><b><span>What will you be doing:</span></b></span></h2><p><span>The Dose Formulations Research Associate will serve as a technical specialist, performing a lead role in the conduct of all formulation activities required for the support of oncology studies.</span> </p><ul><li>Ensures formulation functions are carried out by established deadlines in compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.</li><li>Provides technical leadership to team members and assists management and supervisory staff in the implementation of department initiatives.</li><li>Prepares solutions and suspensions requiring highly competent skills and a thorough knowledge of the techniques and materials involved.</li><li>Proposes/develops procedure modifications, as necessary, to conserve test material usage or improve formulation results.</li><li>Interacts with scientific staff and client to research formulation requirements for nonstandard test article preparations. Recommends modifications in formulation methods or procedures. Able to adapt techniques to new procedures or particular needs as directed.</li><li>Provides technical guidance and oversight in the Dose Formulation laboratory.</li><li>Trains less experienced formulation and technical staff. Responsible for formulation training content. Performs and supports the continuation of training of technicians (i.e., lead technician duties, use of equipment, standard formulations procedures).</li><li>Prepares and calculates formulations and test material estimates.</li><li>Assists supervisor on various routine responsibilities (e.g.; direction of technicians, troubleshooting, and training).</li><li>Identifies and take appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs, dose preparations, and schedules.</li><li>Identifies process improvement opportunities and takes action to make improvements with minimal guidance.</li><li>Works safely with known and unknown hazardous chemicals and maintains safe work environment.</li><li>Assists in the implementation of novel mixing procedures and equipment.</li><li>Responsible for oversight of non-GLP formulations laboratory, including stocking, ensuring daily and weekly laboratory functions are completed such as autoclaving, glassware washing, stocking and equipment organization.</li><li><span>Works in a research environment with exposure to sharps and potentially caustic chemicals and substances of unknown hazard. Must function while adhering to various PPE requirements.  Noise level in Vivarium is moderate to loud. </span></li><li><span>Laboratory is BioSafety Level II.</span></li><li><span>This position requires overtime, weekend, holiday and/or afterhours shift coverage, as needed.</span></li></ul><p></p><p></p><h2><b>Education</b></h2><ul><li>BS degree Chemistry or related science, or dose formulation experience may be substituted for education.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><h2><b>Experience </b></h2><ul><li><span>Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience.</span></li><li><span>Expert knowledge of the appropriate techniques for receipt, preparation, and distribution of test compounds for dosing of laboratory animals.</span></li><li><span>Skilled in the use of analytical balances, pH meters, homogenizers, and volumetric equipment.</span></li><li><span>Ability to collect handwritten or automated data and complete mathematical calculations including percents, molarity, ratios and test material estimates.
