The Scientist II, Virus Production oversees daily laboratory experimentation to successfully execute research grade virus projects including AAV. This individual will be part of a manufacturing team handling high-throughput processing of viral vectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Implement knowledge/expertise to successfully execute virus developmental projects for viral vectors (AAV, LVV, Adv, RVV, others)

•    Work under the direction of senior scientists to promote internal research

•    Continued implementation of knowledge/expertise to successfully execute virus developmental projects

•    Manage specific projects; Determines SOP revisions that optimize current manufacturing streams

•    Conduct independent process characterization and executes the operational procedures of all viral productions to increase yield and quality

•    Develop and implement in-process assays

•    Serve as a technical resource to staff

•    Participate in decision-making processes within the project team by actively engaging in scientific and technical discussions

•    Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of areas of expertise in the laboratory

•    Drive execution of research strategy

•    Write, review, and revise production SOPs as aligned with updated procedures

•    Other responsibilities as required Job Qualifications  

•    M.S. or Ph. D in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with at least 5 years of experience

•    Advanced technical and hands on experience with virus production is highly preferred

•    Strong knowledge of technical laboratory methods and principles, skilled in the operation of laboratory equipment, instruments, computers and materials

•    Strong detail orientation and analytical skills for data evaluation and troubleshooting

•    Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adequately convey understanding of pertinent information to peers

•    Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
