Solaris Principal Systems Engineer

Parexel is hiring a Principal Engineer that can come in and join a global team to work on mainly project focused work with escalated operations. This person can work anywhere in the eastern time zone.Escalation point for global technical issues from junior team members and other IT teams• Mentor junior staff members to promote standardization and project initiatives Responsible for technical management, operation and maintenance of Server infrastructure Monitors and maintains Systems and Services Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues Evaluates, tests, and recommends solutions Implementation of Systems and ensures quality standards Provides ongoing information to management and peers regarding the general health of the environment, as well as enhancements and innovations Responsible for ensuring system and data security standards are maintained within the scope of responsibility. Identify opportunities for improving business operations through more effective use of IT and preparing proposals or recommendations. Contribute to the definition and development of worldwide operating procedures and standards for systems. Keeps IT management abreast of any changes in the technologies which may impact business decisions Manages/contributes in Global infrastructure projects Proactively maintains Server infrastructure Works to ensure maximum uptime to essential systems Works closely with other IT Management and technical staff to promote, evaluate and test infrastructure solutions Defines, reviews, and maintains hardware/software technical standards, especially related to installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of Systems Monitors key system parameters to ensure optimum performance is being maintained Job Qualifications : Highly organized and have clear, concise communication skills Ability to evaluate technical issues and be able to think outside the box to develop cohesive, manageable solutions. Ability to function in a Global organization with a flexible and dynamic team environment Proven experience in the design, implementation and management of Enterprise Infrastructures and Systems including: Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, and other variants of Linux) and Solaris Experience with Server deployment and automation technologies/techniques via OEM and RHEL Satellite, and Orchestration Tools such as Ansible. Experience with general Unix Technologies such as Samba, SNMP, NTP, PAM, SSH, Sendmail, NFS, CIFS, LVM, ZFS, Shell scripting, Patching (YUM, IPS), RPM package management, SUDO, Multipath, SFTP, DNS, SAN/NAS principles including hands on FC and iSCSI. Experience with LDOMs and Zones Experience with SAN (ZFS, Exadata, NETAPP, EMC, HP) Knowledge of Solaris and SUN/Oracle SPARC platforms, including T-series servers Experience with deploying to cloud technologies such Azure Client-focused approach to work Degree in a relevant technical area or equivalent work experience Relevant industry certifications
