Location/Division Specific Information

The PPI Business System Specialist will be based at our Madison, WI team in Measurement Control and Sample (MCS), Chemical Analysis Division (CAD), affiliated with the Analytical Instruments Group (AIG). CAD provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, and Mining, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in results-oriented environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and improve their businesses. 

How will you make an impact?

The role will facilitate implementation of the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System, within all functions across Madison site to; enable profitable growth, intensify the customer experience, and increase employee engagement around continuous improvement.

The position collaborates with essential team members to build a continuous improvement culture within functional teams, heavily focused around manufacturing operations. The role will facilitate the development of a PPI roadmap and future state within each function, enabling a robust productivity pipeline.

Key Objectives of the role:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead/work with key functional teams to streamline processes to improve the manufacturing operations experience, enable profitable growth and drive efficiencies.
  • Identifies, develop and project manage productivity opportunities from an end-to-end perspective, in addition to rolling out key global Practical Process Improvements initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key partners to build a continuous improvement culture with key functional teams.
  • Persistently nurture an action-biased culture of continuous improvement to improve KPI's in the areas of customer, finance, people & quality.
  • Supervise progress of improvement efforts and provide key PPI training in enabling a PPI culture & demeanor.
  • Validate assumptions and assertions using data and mentor others to make data driven decisions.
  • Measure and report on key performance indicators (leading and lagging) for PPI activities across each function; develop and implement effective corrective action plans in conjunction with key partners to address areas of concern.

Education

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • PMP Certification an advantage.
  • Degree in science or finance preferred.

Experience:

  • Confirmed experience being responsible for a continuous improvement program for manufacturing operations functions (ideally; finance, customer service, etc.).
  • 3+ years experience implementing successful TPS-based system including elements such as; A3 Thinking/Strategy Deployment, Lead Leadership (Daily Accountability, Leader Standard Work, Visual Management), 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, metric boards, stand-up meetings and project funnel coordination.
  • Expertise in problem-solving applying a formal program/process.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization.
  • Fundamental business financial acuity.
  • Strong project management, facilitation and communicating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with Microsoft office (Word and Excel), Power BI an advantage.
  • Able to work on-site to drive continuous improvement in operational areas, including connecting cross-functional resources to remove waste along extended value streams.
  • Passion for driving improvement and leading change.
  • Consistent track record for developing, training, and mentoring teams.
