Vice President, Therapeutic Area Lead, Infectious Disease

Parexel is hiring a Vice President, North American Therapeutic Area Leader (TAL), Infectious Disease to join our Global Medical Services organization (GMS); the position will report into the Chief Medical Officer. 

As the Therapeutic Area Leader, you will have global responsibilities for leading and growing the Infectious Disease strategy and stakeholders. As the Executive Leader, you will provide leadership and development to the Global Infectious Disease team.

In this role you will draw upon your medical and scientific expertise, offering Thought Leadership and guidance to external clients and colleagues from other departments in the areas of business development, study design/optimization, and overall clinical development strategies. 

As a Therapeutic Leader you will deliver scientific expertise to clients and colleagues from other departments together with the Infectious Disease Medical Leaders. Focus will be on Infectious Disease study design/optimization and overall development strategies from early phase to market access for both therapies and preventive products such as vaccines. You will educate the team on Infectious Disease and related clinical research.  You will share best practices in the delivery of medical and scientific expertise, lessons learned from projects or opportunities and innovations or scientific developments in Infectious Disease. 

You will take a leadership role in driving growth, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the department by actively participating in regular client facing activities. You will be responsible for building a network of executive and senior leaders at clients / pharmaceutical companies.  New business awarded in the Infectious Disease space will be one of your key performance metrics.  Contributing to new proposals and overall business development initiatives and serving as a liaison with clients are among the other responsibilities. Some activities you perform will be client billable to support first time quality execution and to enhance client satisfaction.

Desired Experience and Education

  • Demonstrated leadership skill, ability to influence and make things happen

  • Infectious Disease background including direct experience in main Infectious Disease indications

  • Holistic understanding on the key elements needed for a successful drug development journey in main Infectious Disease indications including experience with relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines for drug development

  • Proven and applied expertise in clinical drug development at a senior level position, in the CRO and/or pharmaceutical industry. Would consider a Division Head in Academia or Healthcare

  • Prior experience working in a global environment

  • Prior academic/clinical patient care experience within the Infectious Disease

  • Experience in clinical research, as an investigator or sub-investigator; laboratory research in Infectious Disease related topics preferred but not mandatory

  • Established presentation/teaching skills

  • Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills

  • Business acumen, with understanding of financial and marketing principles

  • Publications in peer-reviewed literature on Infectious Disease related topics

  • Advanced medical / PhD degree(s) with relevant Infectious Disease experience
