Division summaryThe Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and associated services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science Manufacturing and Recycling, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in challenging environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and streamline their businesses. CAD is a complex division with a global footprint, broad product portfolio and diverse customer base.

Location/Division Specific InformationWithin Product Inspection Business Unit we are looking for an experienced and motivated Field Service Engineer, product line check wire, metal detection, x-ray detection and if required extending to other product lines and/or applications. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will enjoy challenges, travel, and changing environments!

How you will make an impact:As a Field Service Engineer you'll be responsible for delivering and building service excellence over and above our customer expectations.

What you will do:

  • Complete installations, repairs, data analysis and calibrations, preventative maintenance, technical support, and training services.
  • Responsible for providing services remote or at site within the agreed conditions; sets the accurate priorities.
  • Assess and resolve hardware and software malfunctions by means of diagnostic skill, tools, and customer guidance.
  • Educate customers on instrument operation, maintenance procedures, and processes.
  • Submit service reports and documentation to meet internal and external specifications.
  • Maintain parts inventory, personal library of instrument manuals, company-assigned laptop, phone, car, and tools.
  • Build strong customer relationships and promote excellent customer experiences to build/maintain customer allegiance.
  • Represents our company in a positive, professional manner in all dealing with Thermo Fisher Scientific customers, both external and internal.
  • Partner with our commercial colleagues to deliver customer deals that can be implemented profitably and meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Help on continuous improvement through our Practical Process Improvement Business System.

How you will get here:

  • Education : Bachelors or equivalent education and experience, including 2 year technical degree, equivalent military or technical training.
  • Experience : 2+ years’ experience in an instrumentation/service, process control environment
  • Field service experience (technical) preferred, in areas of industrial processes.
  • Material science, automation and/or process engineering expertise/experience preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Excellent interpersonal communication both written and oral in English and preferable second language
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues in difficult and stressful situations
  • Ability to understand, read and interpret technical drawings
  • Outstanding problems skills, passionate about electromechanical, software and application issues
  • Customer friendliness and a professional demeanor
  • PC literacy including MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook, Salesforce, and Concur
  • Proficient in English, with a second language suited to region
  • Outstanding issues, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal demeanor, rapport building, written and verbal
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 80% with occasional weekends (per customer needs)
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
