Discover Impactful Work:

The Senior Biostatistician in our Modeling & Simulations team will support studies in health-economic modeling, including studies involving simulation models, planning and execution of analyses on real-world observational data (administrative and prospectively collected), exploratory and post-hoc analyses of data from clinical trials, and providing general consultative support to researchers in health economics, outcomes research and epidemiology. 

You will be part of multi-disciplinary research teams to provide statistical expertise and methodological leadership at all stages of projects from planning to completion. Duties will vary according to the nature of the projects.

A day in the Life:
  • Work independently to understand the statistical and analytical requirements of projects and develop statistical analysis plans to address those needs, execute analyses according to the plan, possibly with support from more junior staff, and assist in interpretation and dissemination of findings, including preparation of reports or slide decks summarizing methods and results.
  • Design and develop health economic (HEOR) models to conduct cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses of healthcare interventions.
  • Support development and maintenance of scientific resources (e.g., model templates, modeling training manuals).
  • Program the models using Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or simulation specialized software (e.g., Arena) and conduct model validations.
  • Analytical work will involve parametric time-to-event analyses to project partially observed distributions, derivation of predictive equations to relate patient characteristics to outcomes or trajectories of outcomes, formulating models to measure the effect of time-dependent risk factors to subsequent outcomes.
  • Familiarity with novel techniques for indirect treatment comparison like Matching Adjusted Indirect Comparison (MAIC) or Simulated Treatment Comparison (STC) is preferred.

Education
  • PhD or Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in a similar program (Biostatistics or Statistics) with at least 5 years of similar experience in industry or consulting environment.

Experience

·Relevant programming simulation model experience (e.g., discrete event simulation) or other decision analytic models (e.g., decision trees, Markov, individual state-transition, survival partition) in Microsoft Excel with VBA.

  • Broad experience in health economics and development of models suitable for submission to Health Technology Assessment groups or to support other reimbursement decisions.

·Extensive practical experience in the application of statistics in health economics, outcomes research and epidemiology.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

·Required: R, SAS (Base, Stat, Graph, Macro), SPSS, STATA, WinBUGS.

·Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods and familiarity with techniques such as development of predictive equations, survival analysis (including parametric methods), longitudinal data analysis, meta-analysis, mixed treatment comparison, and other hierarchical analysis techniques etc.

·Strong communication (spoken and written), problem-solving skills, and an ability to learn quickly.

·Ability to communicate effectively, in non-technical terms, with project team members.
