Effects of a Nurse-Led Self-Compassion and Kindness Program on Compassion and Healthy Peer Relationships in Adolescents: A Randomized Controlled Trial

The goal of this experimental study is to learn if the Nurse-Led Self-Compassion and Kindness Program works to improve self-compassion, compassion toward peers, and peer relationships among adolescents. The main hypotheses to be tested in the study are:

Post-intervention self-compassion scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Post-intervention compassion scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Post-intervention peer relationships scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Follow-up self-compassion scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Follow-up compassion scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Follow-up peer relationships scale scores will be significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the control group.

Researchers will compare the experimental group (receiving the program) to a control group to see if the Nurse-Led Self-Compassion and Kindness Program is effective in enhancing compassion and peer relationships in adolescents.

Participants will:

Participate in the Nurse-Led Self-Compassion and Kindness Program 1 day a week for 6 weeks

Complete the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test questionnaires

Foranstaltningsbeskrivelse
Tidsramme
Self-Compassion Scale (SCS-SF)-Change in Self-Compassion Levels From Baseline to Post-Intervention (Week 6)
Tidsramme: Baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
This outcome measure evaluates the immediate effect of the 6-week intervention program on adolescents' self-compassion levels. Self-compassion will be assessed using the Self-Compassion Scale. The scale is a single-dimensional, 5-point Likert-type instrument consisting of 11 items, with responses ranging from 1 ('Never') to 5 ('Always'). The minimum and maximum achievable scores on the scale are 11 and 55, respectively. Higher scores indicate higher levels of self-compassion.
Baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Compassion Scale for Adolescents (CSA) - Change in Compassion Levels From Baseline to Post-Intervention (Week 6)
Tidsramme: Baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
This outcome measure evaluates the immediate effect of the 6-week intervention program on compassion levels among adolescents. Compassion will be measured using the Compassion Scale for Adolescents. The Compassion Scale for Adolescents (CSA) is a 5-point Likert-type instrument consisting of 30 items across six subscales, with responses ranging from 1 ('Strongly disagree') to 5 ('Strongly agree'). The total achievable score on the scale ranges from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 150. Higher total scores indicate higher levels of compassion.
Baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Peer Relationships Scale (PRS) - Change in Peer Relationships From Baseline to Post-Intervention (Week 6)
Tidsramme: Baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
This outcome measure evaluates the improvement in peer relationships following the 6-week intervention program. Peer relationships will be assessed using the Peer Relationships Scale. The Peer Relationships Scale (PRS) is a 5-point Likert-type instrument consisting of 29 items across four subscales, with responses ranging from 1 ('Strongly disagree') to 5 ('Strongly agree'). The minimum and maximum achievable total scores on the scale are 29 and 145, respectively. Higher total scores reflect healthier and better-quality peer relationships.
