Estudio Internacional de Obesidad Infantil, Estilo de Vida y Medio Ambiente (ISCOLE)
El objetivo principal del Estudio internacional sobre la obesidad infantil, el estilo de vida y el medio ambiente (ISCOLE) es determinar la relación entre las características del estilo de vida y la obesidad en un gran estudio multinacional de niños de 10 años e investigar la influencia de los entornos conductuales. y entornos físicos, sociales y de políticas sobre las relaciones observadas dentro de cada país.

Los datos se recopilarán en 12 países (500 niños por sitio) de cinco regiones principales del mundo (Eurasia y África, Europa, América Latina, América del Norte y el Pacífico).
Se realizarán evaluaciones transversales en cada país.
Se medirán directamente las características físicas de los niños para clasificar su peso corporal y estado de adiposidad, y se medirá la actividad física y el patrón alimentario con las técnicas más objetivas disponibles en la actualidad.
También se empleará un conjunto conciso de medidas ambientales que sean factibles, válidas y significativas en los entornos internacionales incluidos en esta investigación.
Los resultados de este estudio proporcionarán un examen sólido de las correlaciones de la obesidad y el aumento de peso en los niños, centrándose en ambos lados de la ecuación del balance energético.
Los resultados también proporcionarán nueva información importante que informará el desarrollo de intervenciones de estilo de vida para abordar la obesidad infantil que se pueden adaptar culturalmente para su implementación en todo el mundo.
