Studio internazionale sull'obesità infantile, lo stile di vita e l'ambiente (ISCOLE)
L'obiettivo principale dell'International Study of Childhood Obesity, Lifestyle and the Environment (ISCOLE) è determinare la relazione tra le caratteristiche dello stile di vita e l'obesità in un ampio studio multinazionale su bambini di 10 anni e indagare l'influenza delle impostazioni comportamentali e ambienti fisici, sociali e politici sulle relazioni osservate all'interno di ciascun paese.

I dati saranno raccolti in 12 paesi (500 bambini per sito) da cinque principali regioni del mondo (Eurasia e Africa, Europa, America Latina, Nord America e Pacifico).
In ciascun paese saranno effettuate valutazioni trasversali.
Verranno misurate direttamente le caratteristiche fisiche dei bambini al fine di classificare il loro peso corporeo e lo stato di adiposità, e verranno misurati l'attività fisica e gli schemi alimentari con le tecniche più obiettive attualmente disponibili.
Verrà inoltre impiegato un insieme conciso di misure ambientali che siano fattibili, valide e significative nei contesti internazionali inclusi in questa ricerca.
I risultati di questo studio forniranno un esame approfondito dei correlati dell'obesità e dell'aumento di peso nei bambini, concentrandosi su entrambi i lati dell'equazione del bilancio energetico.
I risultati forniranno anche nuove importanti informazioni che informeranno lo sviluppo di interventi sullo stile di vita per affrontare l'obesità infantile che possono essere adattati culturalmente per l'implementazione in tutto il mondo.
