Operations Engineering – NPI

Job Description

The Engineer Operations – NPI (New Product Introduction) defines factory and service requirements for new products and contributes to the product and process improvements after release. NPI engineer understands the importance of customer satisfaction, and succeeds through dedication, passion, partnership, technical expertise and working with a network of dedicated people within Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Key responsibilities:

• Working in compliance with legislation and IMS
• Work on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as they transition from concept through release according to PMP, MDP, or other process. The NPI Engineer is responsible for achieving NPI deliverables assigned to NPI Engineering.
• Sets up training and coordinates/trains Manufacturing, Sustaining Products and Service personnel in new product build, test, install and repair procedures.
• May develop troubleshooting procedures and complete it in factory or field service.
• Supports factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure proper working order. This may require travel to various customer locations worldwide to support installations and upgrades.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

• University degree in a technical field and typically, over 2 years of technical experience in high-tech industry environment in service, development or manufacturing
• Demonstrated experience participating or handling concurrent technical projects
• Demonstrated experience with process improvements and methods. Experience with use of statistical process control and statistical problem solving methods, including Six-Sigma methods, is preferred
• The ability to provide clear and concise analysis of data and experimental methods
• Plan and resolve issues that involve gaining partnership of multiple multi-functional departments and cross-sites
• Is able to work for extended period in clean room environment
• Be able to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally (up to 25% of working time)
• Fluent in English and local language.
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills in peer to peer interaction as well as in networking with senior internal and external personnel in own expertise area
