Cytogenetics Technologist (Evenings) - Onsite

Job summary:

Performs all routine and special Cytogenetics and/or FISH procedures, microscopic analysis, and maintains quality control.  With minimum supervision, Cytogenetic technologist participates in trouble shooting, updating accessioning, current methods, and training of junior personnel when cleared by Supervisor.

The work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday starting at 1:00 pm or later. This position is eligible for 2nd/evening shift differential.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs routine cytogenetic tests and molecular cytogenetics tests independently with accuracy and efficiency.
• Develops new testing procedures.
• Perform FISH and Chromosomes analysis.
• Monitors the performance of the equipment and provides expertise in technical troubleshooting.
• Protects patient confidentiality and privacy.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a Biological Science plus one year of cytogenetics experience required OR Bachelor's in Medical Lab Science/Clinical Lab Science plus 1 year of experience preferred
• 2-3 years of cytogenetics experience is preferred
• CG (ASCP) certification preferred.
• State licensure is highly preferred.
